F.A.Q.
-
Do you provide resources or aid to families in need?Yes. Although every situation and circumstance is different than others, as far as it depends on us, we try to remain generous stewards of the resources God has given us to love and serve others as best we can. Although, as a church, we do not have much, we try to remain open-handed with what we do have and give like it all belongs to God.
-
What kind of church are you? (aka. what is your denomination?)We are a non-denominational Christian church from the Restoration Movement. If interested in learning more about some of our core beliefs, click here.
-
Do you provide transportation or have a church van?Although there isn’t any formal plan in place, we have almost always found a way to give families rides to and from church by partnering with others who currently attend. We also have a church van that we could use for this very purpose as well.

What does worship service look like? Our worship gatherings are about an hour in length, and we sit around tables rather than in rows. We place an emphasis on walking through every element of the service in a clear, simple way, so anyone and everyone can feel like they belong, and they know what’s going on, regardless of their past church experience. Our gatherings typically consist of a few songs led by our worship team, a teaching/message, communion (where we take bread & juice together), offering/generosity moment, and various general church announcements. On some Sunday, the gathering might take a different look or include other elements due to what might be going on that weekend (i.e. holidays, special events, family worship, service day, etc.)
-
When and where are your church services? We meet every Sunday morning at 10:30am at CrossFit Merle Hay: 4367 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines, IA 50310
-
What should I wear? You can quite literally wear whatever you’d like! All we ask is that you at least wear something and that whatever you choose to wear would in general be accepted in most public places.
-
Do you have a kids or students ministry? We have both! Our kid’s ministry is made up of several volunteers and runs in tandem with our Sunday morning gatherings as well! Direction Kids ministers to all kids ages birth-5th grade. Outside of Sunday mornings, Direction Kids offers a number of different events & resources to help families connect and to help parents raise their children in the direction of Jesus. We currently host a bible study for youth twice a month, outside of our Sunday gatherings. If you're interested in getting more information about these, please contact Patrick!
-
Do you have any small groups or Bible studies during the week?Yes! We always have a handful of small groups and/or Bible studies taking place and always looking to form new ones! If you’re interested in getting plugged into one of these communities or hear more about our current/future options, please email patrick@directionchurch.com.
